Three things about July 1969.

1. On July 6, 1969 after a tour in Vietnam that left him in a hospital in Japan for 6 months, a Purple Heart, and a tour in Germany, my Dad was discharged from the Army and on his way home to New York.

2. On July 13, 1969 just a week after returning from the Army, my Papa Joe took my Mom and Dad to a Mets game to watch the soon to be 1969 World Series Champions.

3. A week later on July 20, 1969 Apollo 11 along with Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin made the first successful lunar landing. John F. Kennedy, the catalyst behind the event that inspired a nation and the world wasn't alive to see it. And there's something very tender about that.
