1. I have lost count of the number of times baseball has saved my sanity. As the North Bay fires continue to rage with little to no containment and the news of loss just keeps coming, the Yankees playing in the postseason this year has suddenly become incredibly important. I'll be watching every game, cheering every run, also screaming - let's be real, I'm from New York, and once again taking respite in America's pastime. But seriously Yankees, you guys better win.

2. I found myself saying again this morning, "I just don't know how to parent through this." I've said it a lot in the past year. A LOT. But then quickly realized that none of us do. Even on the good days all us parents are all flying by the seat of our most likely poorly fitting pants. We continue to figure it out as we go, no matter the circumstances.

3. We define our prosperity. I'm learning this week from my beloved California, that seemingly nothing is actually everything.
