1. I had a creative writing teacher in high school who used to say two things. "Write what you know" and "don't write what feels too close." It was good advice then and still holds up. Learning this for the second time, as I discover being able to write essays about my childhood in ways that I couldn't access before. I guess time truly decides what is still too close.
2. July has a heavy perfume that sweeps in only at night. It hangs in the air so thick and then poof, it's gone before the morning.
3. I prefer direct and to the point.
