1. I'm completely broken up over George Michael. Listen Without Prejudice is my favorite of his albums, but there are so many incredible songs. His duet with Elton John on Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me is beautiful, and I think he actually manages to out Elton John, Elton John, which is pretty much impossible. If you've never seen it, google that shit. The video is everywhere and it is complete bliss to watch George Michael perform, bright blue 90's blazer and all.
2. I learned two hilarious facts about my Dad's grandmother, Vonna today. Here's the first: In her early 60's she totaled several cars. The first car, she left a cigarette burning in the ashtray while it was parked in the driveway. The car went up in flames right in front of the house.
3. The second car was a bright yellow sedan, that my grandmother Zelma, sent my Dad to buy for Vonna. My dad bought the brightest car he could find, because they all knew she was hell on wheels. The "taxi" as they called it was swung so wide approaching the house that Vonna took out a lamp post, ran through a set of hedges, and crashed into the garage door. Half the car was pulled into the garage right through the door. She simply got out of the car and walked into the house like nothing had happened.
