1. Gratitude. Feeling immensely grateful to be surrounded by friends and family. To know that no matter who I am right now, who I will be tomorrow, or who I was, I am always welcome. To not know of a time when I was not welcome, when anyone was not welcome. That love here is unconditional.

2. The magic of ritual. Ritual is important. The act of ritual leaves our analytic mind at rest. It allows us to truly feel and discover emotional spaces in ourselves that are only awakened when we perform acts of repetition and ritual. Ritual allows us to experience these spaces in solitude, or with others. In song or in silence. In prayer or in performance. We don't do it enough.

3. The prayer of St. Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of peace;

Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is error, the truth;
Where there is doubt, the faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled, as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

YES to that.
