THESE THREE THINGS 1114

1. Reality has been a mother fucker. For real you guys. I have been working on archiving this project, getting each entry organized and posted chronologically and I just want you to know that everything you are feeling about the last 3 years or so is accurate. It has been a lot. An overwhelming amount of a lot. Reading through some of the posts as I cut and paste and organize has been big. Not only in terms of the task, but emotionally. These last few years have been nuts. It's not all in your head. You are not overreacting. Reality has been a real shit storm. So go ahead and congratulate yourself for having made it, whether completely in tact or not, just surviving this dumpster fire has taken guts.

2. Watching my parents sort through years of things kept has been interesting. When they first moved out to California 10 years ago things were very different. In the last 10 years we have had to make dramatic shifts and respond to major life changes that were both in and out of our control. It's been a real learning experience and one that all of us could have lived very well without ever having. Sorting, the keeping of things was put on hold. Until now. There are golf clubs that will never be used, guitar cases that were saved for one reason or another. Mostly watching the whole process feels like potential that was extinguished. Experiences that were wanted and never had. Curiosities that have numbed. It's sad, and very real. And very honest about what it means to age and move on.

3. With a new school schedule comes a new understanding of beginnings and endings. There are more of them, which I guess works in our favor as creatures of habit. We will, at some point become accustomed to the wave of transition. more than we are now, at least. Which is good, but the path to that feels strange and hard and new. Yet, still better somehow. Living in the now of it and curious about the future results. Always the scientist.
