1. After some thought this week about whether it was depressing or not to keep a stack of empathy cards around the house, I decided that it's best to have them on hand. While there is no right thing to say, it's all about listening, a card can tell a friend, neighbor, and loved one that you are there, you acknowledge their grief, and can listen. Being prepared is always better than silence.
