1. Endings can sneak up on you. I've been keenly aware that my once little babe of a girl is getting older. The signs are everywhere. I just didn't realize that her growing up would mean an end to some really unexpected things too. She's too tall for the kid's batting cage at AT+T Park, too old for the play area at the Academy of Sciences, and becoming less and less interested in some of her toys. I wasn't ready to not be able to watch her at the kid's batting cage. I just wasn't ready. That part is over. There will be other things and those endings will sneak up on me too.

2. Knowing what you don't like can be just as, if not more important, than knowing what you do like. If you've been here before give me a hells yeah!

3. Freedom isn't always all you imagine. I have been chomping at the bit for this week to arrive. This is the first time in 6 years that I have nearly an entire day to myself. This is the longest amount of time, outside of conferences and the random long work day, that I have been apart from my daughter. I thought I was ready for it. But no. As I spread my wings I am filled with many more feelings than pure freedom. Now, it just doesn't seem like enough time with her. I'm sad, a little heartbroken, and feeling silly. I'm not ready to enjoy it just yet.
