1. Love completely without complete understanding. I spent the better part of the day thinking about what it really means to love something or someone absolutely completely without complete understanding. Whoa.
2. You hold the key to the asylum. No matter how crazy or out of control an interaction can become, remembering that you have the ability to walk away can change your whole perspective, yet can sometimes be easily forgotten. At the time this lesson was quite literal, I was working on a psychiatric unit and at the end of the day I would have to remind myself that I did indeed hold the key around my neck and could go home at the end of the day. I got a time out. The patients there didn't. Major shift in perspective.
