PROMPT #87 CEREAL

Chocolate chips with breakfast. A lesson in doing what works. I spend a good deal of parenting stepping back, taking a wide focus and asking myself, “exactly why do I think this is so important?” After a while rules can become irrelevant and I sometimes find myself saying things that work for someone, but not anyone in my house. We don't know until we try and I can say as a parent, I try a lot. A lot of different things and hopefully in the process find something that sticks. I'm not sure where the idea came from that barely a breakfast is better then a full breakfast with chocolate chips, but I picked up that message somewhere. And truth be told, it's stupid. A handful of chocolate chips centered around a full healthy breakfast works. Right now. And for however long it will work. So this is our cereal. A pile of mini chocolate chips from a container that sits on our kitchen counter. They get sprinkled on anything from waffles, to oatmeal, granola and fruit. We all eat. And that's a good thing.
