These beautiful mushrooms were a gift from my daughter's teacher. They spent a quarter studying mycology and grew oyster mushrooms in the classroom. We all learned a lot that quarter, possibly as much as my kiddo. I had no idea that fungus was such an unexplored phenomena. Mycologists are learning incredible things about fungi and as research develops, findings are updated and constantly change in real time. It turns out science hasn't even scratched the surface on the role that fungus plays in our environment and the nutrients and benefits it can offer us. It's truly exciting. We've even been to a mycology festival, which is a sentence I never thought I would say! I have a whole new appreciation for these beautiful and strange little vitamins. And I absolutely love to photograph them.
