Both this lovely little jade plant and repurposed candle jar have been part on our bookshelf for about 5 years. My favorite thing about both of them is that they were both part of other things before they connected and created something new. And that something new is thriving. The candle jar, of course held a candle and the jade plant was a small clipping that fell off a larger plant outside. It has taken 5 years for the small little jade clipping to more than double in size and I wonder if and when it will outgrow its sweet little home. Until then, together they serve as a nice reminder that we can find new purpose in old uses and that often times that new perspective can be part of something that thrives.
