WHAT'S CONFIDENTIALITY?

What’s confidentiality? Confidentiality is part of the ethical guidelines of being a psychotherapist. When you start therapy, your therapist will ask you to sign a confidentiality agreement. Usually this asks you to agree to the basic boundaries of confidentiality. Everything you share with your therapist is confidential and stays between the two of you. In fact, the basic fact that you are in therapy is also confidential between you and your therapist.  Your therapist will only break confidentiality if they believe that you are an imminent and violent threat to yourself or others.
