ALCHEMY EDITION 116

First, I want to say thank you to everyone who wrote in with positivity and gratitude for JOY. It felt really good. And even better to have support around an ending. THANK YOU.    This week I share about my process around digging through some not so attractive ego stuff. I am always grateful to sift through the darkness, but it is a vulnerable experience nonetheless. I know many of you are on similar adventures of the psyche. Thank you for sharing your stories with me. I'm listening. Like I say, it's crowded down here in the hole. Thank goodness. Good to be with you down here.    ……………………………………………………………………………………….     When I was in high school if you cut...

ALCHEMY EDITION 115

This week marks the end of JOY IS NOW Season 3. There is a lot to say about this JOY adventure and I make a few surprising announcements on the podcast today, so I wanted to share them here too. In words because sometimes words just hit different.    Here we go!   I think it's safe to say that the last 3 years have been, well, interesting. I guess that’s a pretty optimistic perspective. ALCHEMY EDITION 113

From the moment my daughter was born, it was clear that the norms would not apply. If you are reading this as a parent who threw every recommended child development and parenting book out the window of a moving car, welcome to your flock.    Some kids just move to the rhythm of a different drum. Or enthusiastically destroy the drum altogether.    And thank goodness.    As a parent I never hoped for the good little soldier. And I certainly got my wish. The insatiably curious child who questions everything, demands autonomy, fiercely advocates for change, exists completely outside the box, and runs rings around my best efforts. I got the force. I got the storm.    As a...

ALCHEMY EDITION 112

Thanks to everyone who wrote in with a request for last week's podcast transcript. You have helped illuminate that there is an interest in sharing my essays on FEEDBACK in particular with your friends and colleagues outside of this mighty newsletter crew. I am still organizing my future ARCHIVES - which will allow us to have a home for all these little things like newsletter archives and podcast transcripts but in the meantime what follows is the requested transcript from WHY FEEDBACK IS LIKE SPAGHETTI. You can also listen to it here.    WHY FEEDBACK IS LIKE SPAGHETTI   PSYCHOLOGY AND SEEING WHAT STICKS.    This past weekend marked a real milestone for me in skateboarding. I was finally able to...
